Food safety is a critical component of public health and nutrition. Unsafe food can lead to foodborne illnesses, nutrient loss, contamination, and serious health complications. This course provides foundational knowledge regarding food safety principles, personal hygiene, kitchen sanitation, safe food preparation, food storage, and prevention of foodborne diseases.
Learners will explore evidence-based food safety practices recommended by the World Health Organization, Food and Agriculture Organization, and international food safety guidelines. The course also introduces Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), contamination prevention, nutrition basics, hydration safety, and healthy eating principles associated with safe food practices.
